Theodore Leppert

Theodore Leppert, 80, of Washington, died October 1, 2007, in his residence. He was born August 24, 1927, in Washington, a son of Max Theodore and Selma Christina Krebs Leppert. Mr. Leppert was a graduate of Trinity High School where he was a four-year letterman in football. He served in the United States Navy from 1947 until his honorable discharge in 1950. He was a tow motor operator for Hazel Atlas and Brockway for 36 years before retiring from Pennsylvania Department of Transportation after nine years of service. Mr. Leppert enjoyed working with his hands, gardening, his VW, and traveling with his wife. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and James R. Hunt Post 639 of the American Legion. On November 8, 1952, he married Merridy A. Beck, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Max T. (Dianne) Leppert and Mark A. (Michele) Leppert; two daughters, Beckie J. (Charles) Wood and Lisa A. (Richard) Hager; one sister, Ella (Sam) Paul, all of Washington; five grandchildren, Max and Derek Leppert, Charles Wood, Erin Misner and Heidi Porter; and seven great-grandchildren, Nathan and Nick Tustin, Max, Wyatt and Skye Leppert, Sophia Misner and Alexis Leppert. Deceased are a grandson, Erik Leppert; four brothers, Irwin, Alfred, Max and George Leppert; and four sisters, Martha Brizinka, Elfrida Leppert, Adelheide Bader and Edith Rutan. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2007, with Rev. Kenneth Schott officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church, North Franklin at Walnut Street, Washington PA 15301.
