Andrew (Andy) Rock, 84, of Washington, died Monday, December 4, 2006, in Donnell House, Washington, following a two-month illness. He was born November 8, 1922, in Washington, a son of John and Helen Pizner Rock. Mr. Rock attended Wolfdale schools and was a member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Canonsburg. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving from February 6, 1943, to February 16, 1945, with the 82nd Signal Battalion Company A in the Philippines and Okinawa. He received the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with one bronze star, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal World War II and Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Mr. Rock enjoyed hunting, fishing, coin collecting, stamps and going to auctions. He also enjoyed the Pirates and Steelers. For 34 years from 1950 to 1984, he was a coil stacker at McGraw-Edison. On August 2, 1952, he married Rose Marie Cava, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Mark Rock, and a daughter, Rebecca (Mark) Los, both of Washington; two grandchildren, Anthony Bock and Angela Bock; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Deceased are four sisters, Helen Kravetz, Emma Rock, Mary Brower and Ann Passo; and three brothers, Michael, John and Paul Rock. He was the last of his immediate family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 8, in St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, Canonsburg, with Father Joseph Jugan as celebrant. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. A Panachida service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion. The family suggests memorial contributions to Donnell House, c/o Hospice Care of The Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
