Katherine Margaret Hess Ward

Katherine Margaret Hess Ward, 79, of Cape Coral, Florida, died at 5:13 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007, in her residence, following a one-year illness. She was born August 26, 1927, in Washington, a daughter of Hugh Ralph and Lillian Schimmack Hess. Mrs. Ward graduated from Washington High School. She was a homemaker, member of First Lutheran Church, and enjoyed quilting, sewing and ceramics. On August 19, 1946, she married Harold Theodore Ward, who died June 7, 1993. Surviving are two sons, Ralph Ward of Frederick, Colorado, and Donald K. (Denise) Ward of Taylorstown; two daughters, Kathleen Muchado of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Karen Ward (Fred) Winberg of Gardnerville, Nevada; a brother, Harold R. (Joyce) Hess of Shelby Township, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Courtney Ward (Justin) Crowe, Travis Ward, Jessica Ward, Brent Machado, Kayla Machado, Brandon Winberg, Christopher Winberg, Bryonna Ward Winberg and Austin Ward Winberg; two great-grandchildren, Logan Crowe and Devon Ward; and her step-father, Donald O. Seik of Washington. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2007, with Rev. Dr. Kenneth N. Schott officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
