William Franklin Zuver

June 24, 1921 — September 22, 2007

William Franklin Zuver, 86, of Scenery Hill, died at 7:32 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2007, in the home of his daughter, in Harrisburg, North Carolina. He was born June 24, 1921, in Williams County, Ohio, a son of Charles Henry and Nellie Mae Flory Zuver. Mr. Zuver graduated from West Unity High School. On July 28, 1942, during World War II, he entered the U.S. Navy and served at Pearl Harbor, receiving the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, and Victory Ribbon. He was Honorably Discharged November 20, 1945. Mr. Zuver was an auto mechanic and parts manager for Darr Olds for twenty years, and at Sun Chevrolet the last five years he worked. He was a member of Laboratory Presbyterian Church and enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and his family. On May 3, 1945, he married Alice Geraldine Miller Zuver, who died January 23, 2002. Surviving are a son, Thomas (Diana) Zuver, of Scenery Hill; a daughter, Sharon (Joseph) Piper, of Harrisburg, N.C.; a sister, Betty Renard, of West Unity, Ohio; four grandchildren, Michele Stovall, John Lynn, Jr., Thomas Zuver, Jr., and Christopher Zuver; and three great grandchildren, McKenna Stovall, Ethan Zuver and Aaron Zuver. Deceased are four brothers, Charles, Guy Leroy, Paul and Joe Zuver; and three sisters, Ellen Zuver, Blanche Roe, and Luluabelle Ikerd. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 28, 2007, with Pastor David Stammerjohn officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
