James Madison White

Korean War veteran enjoyed sports, fishing. James Madison White, 74, of Houston, died Friday, January 26, 2007, in Kindred Hospital, Oakdale. He had been ill since September. He was born June 5, 1932, in Washington, a son of Madison M. and Grace D. Anderson White. Mr. White attended Trinity Area schools and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS LST 819 and USS LST 529. He was a member of Church of Christ. Mr. White was employed as an assembler at McGraw-Edison (Cooper). He enjoyed his dog, fishing, sports, the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and watching television. On June 5, 1989, he married Delores Freno, who died September 29, 2006. Surviving are three daughters, Sharon Diane White, Cynthia Lynn White and Audra Lou White; a stepdaughter, Michelle M. Sprowls of Claysville; three sons, James Roland White, Dennis White and Shawn Darryl White; a brother, Randy (Terri) White of Huber Heights, Ohio; three sisters, Violet A. (Edward L.) Kerns of Prosperity and Tandlea G. (Edward) Clouser and Kathy D. (Jim) Prigg, both of Washington; and two grandchildren, Sommer Leigh Sprowls and Savannah Rhea Sprowls. Deceased are three sisters, Ella Louise Clemens, Mae Reed and Geraldine L. Duda, and a son, Terry White. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 30. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery, McMurray. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
