Louis Alden Dellinger, 47, of Arlington, Virginia, died at 11:23 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2006, in Nova Alexandria Hospital. He had been ill since April 2006.
He was born December 12, 1958, in Waynesburg, a son of Rev. Larkin Alden and Mary Jane Grimes Dellinger of Washington.
Mr. Dellinger graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1978. He had attended Greene County Vocational-Technical School for cooking and competed in state competitions for cake decorating.
Mr. Dellinger served in the US Navy on the USS Brewton in the Pacific. After his release from the service, he worked various jobs until becoming employed with Amtrak, where he worked as a conductor for the past 16 years. He trained in New York City and worked between New York and Washington, D.C. He was also a conductor on the Acela Express.
Mr. Dellinger was a member of the railroad union. He enjoyed old movies and Star Wars movies and collected miniature cars.
Mr. Dellinger was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Ruff Creek.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2006, with Pastor George Garancosky officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Ruff Creek. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
