Dorothy Ferguson

October 13, 1941 — January 8, 2007

Dorothy E. Garrison Ferguson, of Merced, California, formerly of Los Angeles, California and Las Vegas, Nevada, died Monday, January 8, 2007, at Doctors Medical Center, in Modesto, California. She had made her home with her loving and care-giving niece, Lanita Chambers, and her children, Jalisa and Xavier, in Merced, California. She was born October 13, 1941, in Lincoln Hill, Washington, PA, a daughter of the late Archie and Willia Bonaparte Garrison. She was a graduate of Washington High School, class of 1959, and a graduate of Stautzenberger Business College in Toledo, Ohio. Dorothy worked as a retail clerk for J. C. Penny Co. in Toledo, Ohio. She joined the City of Los Angeles October 1, 1962, as a Police Service Representative in the 911 Center, and retired as Chief Clerk in the City Administrative Office in 1997. Surviving are seven sisters, Thelma Scott of Etters, Pa, Geneva Wallace, Wheeling, WV, Willa Dudley, Cadiz, Ohio, Alice Russell, Toledo, Ohio, Margaret Young, Philadelphia, Pa, Ruth McGruder and Gloria Garrison, Washington, PA; and one brother, Paul Garrison and his wife Jerilyn of Toledo, Ohio. Dorothy also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a host of friends who will miss her personality, beautiful smile, wm friendship, her wonderful cooking, baking and especially her �Fergie� chocolate chip cookies. Friends will be received noon to 2 p.m., the time of service, Saturday, January 13, 2007, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
