Albert Thomas Rea

Albert Thomas Rea, 74, of Washington, died at 7:47 p.m., on Monday, September 3, 2007, at his home, after several years of declining health. He was born on May 9, 1933, in Washington, a son of Giavacchino “Jack” and Anna Paul Rea. Mr. Rea worked for 30 years as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He retired in 1990. He had also been a driver for G.G.&C. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church. He was a 1951 graduate of Trinity High School. Mr. Rea was a member of the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the Lone Pine Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed his granddaughter, watching sports and listening to talk shows. Mr. Rea was a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force. For his service during the Korean War, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on March 6, 1956. In 1959, he married Sandra “Sonie” Hanam, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Thomas Leroy (Sheri) Rea, of the South Hills, PA; a daughter, Holly Anne Rea, of Washington, PA; 2 brothers, Jack Rea, Jr. and Gaylord Rea, both of Washington, PA; 2 sisters, Viola Tarr and Frances Hudak, both of Washington, PA; a granddaughter, Jade Alexa Rea; 14 nieces and nephews; 21 great nieces and great nephews; one great-great niece; and one great-great nephew. Deceased are a sister, Lois Ann Fonner; and a nephew, Jeremy Hanam. Friends will be received on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, PA 15301. Services will be held at the First Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth N. Schott officiating. Burial will be held on a later date at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion.
