Darrell J. Temple

Farmhand for Manchester Farm enjoyed dartball. Darrell J. Temple, 67, of Hickory, died Saturday, August 25, 2007, in Washington Hospital, following a long and debilitating illness. He was born July 23, 1940, near Morristown, Ohio, a son of Elizabeth Barb Temple of Hickory and the late Ben F. Temple. He was member of Hickory United Presbyterian Church. Before his illness, he shot trap at Indian Springs Rod and Gun Club and played dartball for Hickory Church. He worked as a farmhand on Manchester Farm near Avella for many years. Surviving are his mother, Elizabeth (Libby) Temple of Hickory; a brother, B. Dale Temple and wife Elsie of Hickory; and a nephew, Brian D. Temple and wife Sommer of Hickory. Deceased, in addition to his father, is an infant brother, David C. Temple. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and until 11 a.m., the hour of service, Tuesday, August 28, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Douglas Reinard officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.
