Phillip S. "Flip" Buckingham, 60, of Hickory, died at 12:51 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2007, in his residence. He had been ill since March 2004.
He was born August 6, 1947, in Washington, a son of Robert G. and Helen L. Buckingham Ankrom.
Mr. Buckingham graduated from Trinity High School in 1965.
He was Methodist.
During the Vietnam War, he was a private first class in the Army Signal Corps and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, a Vietnam Camp Medal with Device and a Sharpshooter Badge M-14 Rifle.
He was employed in the glass industry and was a hot-end supervisor at Glenshaw Glass for 10 years.
Mr. Buckingham was a member of American Legion Post 902 in Houston, LOOM 22 and the Arden Club. He was known as "Shadow" in the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club.
He was a fan of Pittsburgh sports and was very involved in youth sports programs.
On July 7, 1969, he married Janice L. Ramage, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Eric Keith (Jane) Buckingham of Youngstown, Ohio; a daughter, Tammie Jo Buckingham (D. Chad) Moore of Lynn, Ind.; a stepmother, Beatrice Ankrom of Amity; two brothers, John (Merri Lu) Ankrom of Waynesburg and David (Kim) Ankrom of Boyertown; three stepbrothers, Shirl (Jane) Barnhart of Parksville, Duncan (Candy) Barnhart of Carmichaels and William (Mary) Barnhart of Carmichaels; a stepsister, Elizabeth (Phil) Amos of Jackson, N.J.; and four grandchildren, Taylor, Hunter and Raven Moore and Preston Buckingham.
Deceased are three grandchildren, James, Andrew and Justin Buckingham.
He leaves behind his beloved dog, Terah.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 27, with the Rev. Meade Lacock officiating. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery.
Military rites will be accorded graveside by VFW Post 191 of Canonsburg, and American Legion Post 602 of Houston.
