Howard Edward Wolfe

Howard Edward Wolfe, 82, of Washington, died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2007, in his home. He was born July 23, 1925, in Dayton, Ohio, a son of the late Norman and Bertha Pettit Wolfe. Mr. Wolfe attended Washington High School. He joined the United States Navy on September 28, 1943. During World War II, he served aboard the USS Louisville in the Pacific Theater and received the Pacific Theater Ribbon with eight stars, American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two stars. He was honorably discharged on April 18, 1946 with a rank of Seaman, Second Class. He was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion and was a Fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus and a member of its Color Guard. Mr. Wolfe retired in 1985 after 37 years as a lineman with West Penn Power. His hobbies included camping, square dancing, hunting and watching game shows. On May 21, 1947, he married Kathryn Taucher, who survives. Also surviving are a son and wife, Dennis and Margie Wolfe, of Sanford, North Carolina; three daughters, Theresa and husband Dwayne Connor of Johnstown, Deborah and husband Richard Harris of Huntingdon, and Christine and husband Frank Seibel of Yakima, Washington; grandchildren, Paige Maree Wolfe, Mary Katherine Mitchell, Diane Wentz and husband Scott, Jennifer Yanko, Gregory Yanko, Nicolas Harris, Jodi Harris and Holly Harris; and three great-grandchildren, Sabrina Mitchell, Dylan Wentz and Haylee Wentz. Deceased are a grandson, Daniel Wolfe; two brothers, Fred Wolfe and Norman Wolfe, Jr.; and a sister, Eleanor Wolfe Mounts. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2007, in St. Hilary Church, Washington. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Donnell House, Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington PA 5301 or to St. Hilary Catholic Church, 320 Henderson Avenue, Washington PA 15301
