Mabel L. Thomas, 77, of Washington, died Sunday, August 13, 2006, in her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born November 23, 1928, in Jackson Township, Greene County, a daughter of William Sherman and Otis Merle Huffman Cumberledge.
She was a graduate of Washington High School and had worked more than 24 years for Hills department store as a department head. She enjoyed building Thomas Kinkade puzzles and solving word searches.
On June 13, 1955, she married Wellington "Bud" Thomas, who died December 16, 1989.
Surviving are two daughters, Patty Jones, with whom she made her home, and Beatrice (Bea) Thomas, both of Washington; three sons, Howard "Puggy" Thomas of Washington, David Robinson of Waynesburg and Danny Thomas of Erie; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Gary Robinson; and a brother, Delbert "Skip" Cumberledge.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 16. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
