Margaret Ann Guidas, 82, of Washington, died Tuesday, January 2, 2007, in Washington Hospital, following a sudden illness. She had spent a wonderful New Year’s Eve with friends before falling ill on January First. She was born October 30, 1924, in Cokeburg, a daughter of the late John and Josephine Malik Lazek. Mrs. Guidas was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church. She was a social butterfly who loved to shop and have lunch with her daughter-in-law, Jackie, and go out with her special group of “Birthday Friends.” She was married to Martin John Guidas, Sr., who is deceased. She leaves behind many who will miss her dearly, including her sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Jackie Guidas of Washington, Stephen and Janet Guidas of Pittsburgh, and David and Cathy Guidas of Washington; her grandchildren, Jennifer Stockdale of Washington, Joseph M. Guidas of Washington and Kevin Guidas; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Joy Lazek; a sister-in-law, Fran Lazek of Washington; and an aunt, Mary Babich of Washington. Deceased are a son, Martin J. Guidas, Jr., of Phoenix, Arizona, who died December 17, 2006; and a brother, Rudy Lazek. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2007, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, with Rev. Thomas D. O’Neil as celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
