Rebekah Jean Ames Hamilton, 89, of Washington, died at 6:40 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2007, in Donnell House.
She was born November 24, 1917, in Bentleyville, Somerset Township, a daughter of Ulysses Grant and Elizabeth Ferguson Ames.
Mrs. Hamilton was a graduate of Bentleyville High School in 1934 and a member of First Baptist Church in Washington.
She was employed by J.C. Penney Company for thirty years, and at her retirement was credit supervisor.
Mrs. Hamilton was a member of the Auxiliary of Edwin Scott Linton, Post 175, American Legion, Washington Historical Society, AARP, and the Reader’s Group at Citizens Library.
On July 12, 1938, she married Stanley Milo “Hamâ€쳌 Hamilton, who died October 14, 1988.
Surviving are two sons, Timothy Hamilton, of Forest, VA., and Michael Hamilton, of New Baden, IL.; a daughter, Rebekah Hamilton, of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Rebekah Lynn, and Christine Hamilton, Rachel Holt, Danielle Ducote, Christopher Key and David Hamilton; and four great grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Stephen Hamilton; four brothers, Dr. Sherman Ames, Marsh Ames, Stanley Ames, and Gail Ames; and three sisters, Charlene Furnier, Rena Stepp and Gertrude Crow.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 E. Maiden Street, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2007, with the Rev. Steven Dunlap officiating. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery.
