Edward H. McVay, 59, of Washington, died on Saturday, August 4, 2007, at his home, after a 2-year illness.
He was born on June 28, 1948, in Washington, a son of Raymond and Truth Beabout McVay.
Mr. McVay was a self-employed truck driver.
He was catholic by faith, and he enjoyed NASCAR racing and fishing.
Mr. McVay was a Boilerman Third Class in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal With Device and the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. His last duty assignment was aboard the USS Constellation.
On July 6, 1991, he married Debra Donella, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Jessie (Brianna) Orbin, of Houston, PA; 3 daughters, Susan (Don) Howard and Ashley Orbin, both of Washington, PA, and Dawn (Scott) Carson, of Coal Center, PA; a brother, Raymond McVay of Lone Pine, PA; 2 sisters, Judy Horner of Washington and Mabel Haines of Philadelphia; 8 grandchildren, Brandon M., Brittnay, Ben, Brandon B., Nicole, Haley, Jessie, Jr. and Nakyra; 1 great grandchild, Riley; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, PA 15301, where services will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at 3:00 p.m., with Father Joseph Lewandowski officiating. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion.
