James L. Batove

James L. Batove, 60, of Washington, died at 7:02 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2007, in The Washington Hospital following a lingering illness with multiple myeloma. He was born January 14, 1947, in Washington, a son of James Morris and Vivian Elizabeth Roach Batove. He graduated from Trinity High School in 1964, and attended Washington and Jefferson College and Washington Institute of Technology. Mr. Batove was employed as a plant engineer for MolyCorp for 13 years. He was a member of Church of the Covenant and a former member of Washington Kiwanis Club. Mr. Batove was a Boy Scout Leader and recipient of the Silver Beaver Award in 1991. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, camping, gardening and woodworking. On June 15, 1968, he married Irene E. Hixon, who survives. Also surviving are a son, J. D. (Dana) Batove; two daughters, April E. Batove and Cerra (Michael) Coddington; an uncle, Lester Batove of Washington; an aunt, Thelma Feiszli of Washington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, August 7, 2007, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum at the Washington Cemetery.
