Frederick A. "Buddy" Boone, 69, of Washington, died at 3:35 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2006, in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born August 21, 1937, in Greensboro, a son of Theodore and Martha Boone.
Mr. Boone graduated from Mapletown High School in 1955 and served in the U.S. Army in Manheim, Germany. He was a master printer and bookbinder for the U.S. Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Boone was a former professional dance roller skater and was a skilled carpenter and mechanic.
He loved skating, bowling, building and flying model airplanes and, his newest interest, ballroom dancing. He also loved animals, especially cats, and would take them into his home to care for them. He enjoyed socializing with friends at the neighborhood restaurant and communicating via the Internet, eager to share his knowledge about many things.
Mr. Boone loved life. There is a old saying that "everyone dies, but not everyone lives." He lived his life to the fullest and will be missed by many people he touched during his lifetime.
On December 9, 1979, he married Judy Orndoff, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Matthew, and a daughter, Diane, from a previous marriage; a brother, David and family of Bowie, Md.; and a stepsister, Beatrice, of Satellite Beach, Fla.
Deceased are two brothers, Harold Lee Boone and James "Sonny" Boone.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at noon Friday, September 15, with the Rev. C.D. Crosscut officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
