Ruth Montgomery Hunter, 92, of Washington, died Sunday, December 24, 2006, in Presbyterian Medical Center. She had been ill since March. She was born December 1, 1914, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of James P. and Clara Wells Montgomery. Mrs. Hunter was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. A graduate of Langley High School, Mrs. Hunter attended Muskingham College for two years and University of Pittsburgh for two years, from where she graduated and was a member of Beta Phi Alpha. Mrs. Hunter was a school teacher, teaching in McGuffey School District at Joe Walker Elementary School. She was a member of PSEA and Women's Gathering. An avid reader, Mrs. Hunter enjoyed mysteries and traveling, especially to Ocean Grove, N.J. On November 5, 1942, she married Lloyd Hutchison Hunter, who died March 11, 1999. Surviving are two sons, Stephen James (Mae) Hunter and Jonathan Mark (Tammy) Hunter, both of Washington; two daughters, Lois Antion, wife of the late David Antion of Claysville, and Carole Ruth (Ron) Magoteaux of Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Lois Hammer of Pittsburgh; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey and Marci Antion, Sherry Antion Mohr, Elizabeth Fulton, John and Stephen Joel Hunter, Nicholas Magoteaux, Jessica, Christopher and Joshua Hunter; two stepgrandchildren, Julie Hampton and Jennifer Godsey; four great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. Deceased are a son, Paul Lloyd Hunter; and a brother, James Montgomery.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m., the hour of service, Wednesday, December 27, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, with Pastor Russ Baird officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Bethel Presbyterian Church, Youth Mission Fund, 3905 Park Avenue, Prosperity, PA 15329.
