Cleda Clementina Simpson, 87, of Washington, died Monday, December 25, 2006, in Washington County Health Center, following a 10-year illness. She was born January 28, 1919, in Washington, a daughter of Guiseppe and Mary Paulina Giovannini. Mrs. Simpson was Catholic. A former employee of George Washington Hotel and R.E. Krause Drug Store, Mrs. Simpson later owned and operated Kopper Kettle Bar, before retiring to Port Charlotte, Fla. She enjoyed gardening. In 1935, she married Herbert J. Simpson, who died September 17, 1990. Surviving are a son, Larry (Anna Marie) Simpson of Fredericktown; a sister, Margaret Kovatch of Washington; three grandchildren, Sherry (Dennis) Fiedler, Renee Simpson and Robert (Elaine) Simpson; and four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Steven and Christopher Fiedler and Haleigh Simpson. Deceased are a grandson, Larry Herbert Simpson Jr.; two sisters, Tillie Thomas and Annie Bier; and four brothers, Rudolph, Pete, Martin and Paul Giovannini.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m., the hour of service, Thursday, December 28, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Edward Myers officiating.
