Amelia Richardson Engel, 83, of Washington, died Wednesday, October 11, 2006.
She was born August 28, 1923, in Castle Shannon, a daughter of the Rev. John Taylor and Lottie Medley Richardson.
She graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Engel was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Glenn Street Free Methodist Church and recently Mt. Pleasant United Presbyterian Church, where she was pianist, a choir member, a Sunday school teacher and session member. She led home Bible study at Presbyterian Medical Center and was a Good News Club leader and host.
She was employed at Mellon Bank, Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, as a teller.
Mrs. Engel was a treasure to her husband and family.
On October 1, 1943, she married Robert K. Engel, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Nelson E. (Janis) Engel of Moon Township, Philip A. (Tina) Engel of Helena, Mont., and Kris R. Engel of Washington; a daughter, Sonja E. (Marc) Hobbs of Washington; a sister, Ruth Pfaff of South Park; eight grandchildren, Amy I. (Earl) Pannebaker of Moon Township, Michael A. (Becky) Engel of Beaver Falls, Heather D. (Mike) Spinelli of Aliquippa, Summerlea A. (Henry) Klinar of Cecil, Lindsay E. Hobbs of Vale, N.C., and Zachary T. Hobbs, Andrew Engel and Kristopher R. Engel, all of Washington; and 11 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan and Adam Pennebaker, Michaela, Marissa, Mikey and Mia Spinelli, Shawn and Mark Engel, Amelia Klinar and Kaylee Shearer.
Deceased are a son, Mark R. Engel; two brothers, John and Ken Richardson; and two sisters, Edith Gruber and Lottie Scott.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 14, with the Rev. Robbin R. Clouser officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. The family suggests memorial contributions to Mark Engel-Jack Siebel Scholarship Fund at Trinity High School.
