Hazel Caldwell, 87, of Mather, died at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2006, in Donnell House following a year-long illness.
She was born May 18, 1919, in Washington, a daughter of William and Lizzie Rood Naylor.
Mrs. Caldwell was a homemaker who enjoyed yard sales, painting and flowers.
On September 13, 1942, she married Daniel F. Caldwell, who died August 22, 1989.
Surviving are four sons, Arthur Caldwell of Tucson, Arizona, William “Budâ€쳌 Caldwell of Rices Landing, Hershel Caldwell of Pittsburgh, and Samuel “Bussyâ€쳌 Caldwell of Claysville; two daughters, June Moore of Mather and Darlene Gray of Washington; two sisters, Flora Horner of Washington, and Goldie Cress of Claysville; 25 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, Jack and Jimmy Caldwell; four brothers, Orvil and James Grover and Charles and Eddie Naylor; and two sisters, Rose Garrett and Emma Stewart.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2006, with Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Horne Cemetery, Marianna.
