Ruth Marie Patton, 84, of Washington, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, in the Tandem Health Center, Canonsburg, with her family present. She had been ill for one and one half years.
She was born in Westmoreland County, on September 19, 1921, a daughter of Carl and Ada Seighman Bates.
Mrs. Patton had worked more than twenty-one years for the Kroger Company as a meat wrapper and cashier, having retired from the Greentree Store. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and traveling.
Her first husband, Herbert D. Johnson is deceased. Her second husband, Perry William Patton is also deceased.
Surviving are three sons, David L, Larry, and Charles Johnson, all of Washington ; a step-daughter, Sherrill Patton Hunt of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Donald L. Bates of Jefferson and Ronald Bates of Waynesburg, one sister, Gladys Piatt of Washington; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
Preceding her in death are two sons, Edwin, and Richard Johnson; three sisters, Hazel Piatt, Edith Harden, as well as an infant sister and two infant brothers.
Friends of Ruth Marie Patton, 84, of Washington, who died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, will be received on Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2006, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Larry Wiltrout officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
