Clyde R. Bainbridge

Clyde R. Bainbridge, 85, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly Washington, died Saturday, May 27, 2006, in Hospice of the Valley, Mesa, following a brief illness. He was born March 26, 1921,in Washington, a son of William and Christine Soles Bainbridge. Mr. Bainbridge graduated from Trinity High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II and participated in the battles of Bismarck Archipelago, New Guinea and Luzon. Mr. Bainbridge was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with three bronze stars, the Bronze Arrowhead, Good Conduct Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal. He was employed as a truck driver for Lake Asphalt Company. Mr. Bainbridge was a member of the Teamsters Local and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. He enjoyed reading, golfing and playing cards. He was Methodist. On December 29, 1957, he married Margery Ann Fergeson Karp, who died April 13, 2002. Surviving are one son, Raymond (Donetta) Karpof Covington, Georgia; three daughters, Karen Bryner of Hickory, Judy Burt of Canonsburg, and Rose Marie Peterman of Mesa, Arizona; three sisters, Anabelle Samida, Eleanore McConnell and Alice Cokeley, all of Washington; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Deceased are three daughters, Beverly Smith, Loretta Peffer and Margery Shrives; one sister, Mary Jane Davidson; one brother, William Bainbridge; and six grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 1:00p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006, in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
