Henry Joseph Mullins, Sr.

Korean War veteran worked in Canonsburg Henry Joseph Mullins Sr., 76, of Houston, died at 12:10 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2006, in Donnell House, Washington, following a 10-year illness. He was born May 30, 1929, in McGovern, a son of William and Mildred Kosharsky Mullins. Mr. Mullins served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, earning a National Defense Service Medal and a Navy Occupation Service Medal. He worked in maintenance at the former McGraw-Edison in Canonsburg for 14 years. He later worked in Ohio as a greenskeeper for Columbia Hills Golf Club for 10 years and, upon returning to Pennsylvania, worked at True Value Hardware in Canonsburg. Mr. Mullins was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars James Perry Post 191 in Canonsburg, Houston American Legion Post 902, Bears Club, Anawanna Hunting and Fishing Club and Canonsburg Sportsman's Club and a life member of Palanka Sportsman's Club in Houston. He was a member of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church in Meadow Lands. On July 28, 1956, he married Nancy Durila, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Henry J. (Judy) Mullins Jr. of Washington; two daughters, Carol (Ted) Warcholak and Christine Jennings, both of Houston; two brothers, Cornelius Mullins of San Marcus, Calif., and Jim Mullins of Grafton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kaylin (Adam) Plott, Meghan Warcholak, Mark Mullins and Alayna Jennings; and a great-grandchild, Payje Violet Plott. Deceased are two brothers, William and John Mullins, and a sister, Helen Durila. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 until 8 p.m., the time of service, Wednesday, March 15, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue. Memorial contributions may be made to Albert Gallatin Hospice, 275 Meadowlands Boulevard, Washington, PA 15301; or Donnell House, 10 Leet Street, Washington, PA 15301.
