Betty Simonelli

Activities aide at Washington County Health Center. Betty Simonelli, 73, of Washington, formerly of Avella, died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2006, in Washington County Health Center, following a three-year illness. She was born March 18, 1933, in Richhill Township, Greene County, a daughter of Clarence Lee and Elma Salisberry Loar. Her stepfather was William Lyons. Mrs. Simonelli attended Washington schools. She was an activities aide at Washington County Health Center for 12 years and had worked as a machine operator at Federal Paper for 15 years. She enjoyed crafts. On July 5, 1951, she married Victor Louis Simonelli Sr., who died May 29, 1997. Surviving are five sons, George (Nancy) Simonelli of Sarasota, Fla., Vaughn (Sarah) Simonelli of Washington, William Jon (Jannie) Simonelli of Avella, Dean H. (Tammy West) Simonelli of Avella and Gino (Janet) Simonelli of Washington; a daughter, Dianne Simonelli (Walt) of Houston; 19 grandchildren, David, Jodi, Lori, Christie, Tammie, George Jr., Jamie, April, Holly, Emily, Vaughn Jr., Jimmy, William Jr., Victor, Brandy, Dena, Dean Jr., Dalton and Alexis; and 13 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler, Audry, Allison, Nicole, Cody, Zachary, Austin, Brittney, Hannah, Nicholas, Morgan and Joshua. Deceased are a son, Victor Louis Simonelli; and four brothers, Harold, Delbert, Vaughn and Heziak Loar. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, with the Rev. Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
