Dale Franklin Riggle, 82, of Washington, died Friday, March 10, 2006, in his residence following a three-week illness.
He was born June 14, 1923, in Claysville, a son of Charles Leslie and Ona Susan Hunt Riggle.
Mr. Riggle served in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning the Bronze Star, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, American Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
He worked as a wire winder at McGraw-Edison for 35 years and worked for B-K Video and SDRR Designs.
Mr. Riggle enjoyed woodworking and carpentry work and building picnic tables.
He was Baptist and an 18-year cancer survivor.
In 1960, he married Sarah Veva Fraley, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Franklin Wayne Riggle of Washington; four daughters, Nancy Jo Spence and Sandra Dale Riggle-Reedy, both of Washington, Debby Jane Hanes of Amity and Becky Sue Riggle of Washington; two brothers, Robert Riggle of Washington and Harold C. (Sam) Riggle of Hickory; eight grandchildren, Michael A. Magnetta, Shelly Ruth Hutchison, Charles "Bo" Earlywine, Russell Clee Hanes, Frederick "Wayne" Reedy, Brennen Patrick Reedy, Sarah Kylie Riggle and Christina Marie Pratt; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his first wife, Dorothy Rush Riggle of Washington.
Deceased are a daughter, Linda Jean Earlywine; three brothers, Wayne, Charles and John (Jack) Riggle; a sister, Eleanore Swartz; and two sons-in-law, Frederick E. Reedy and Ralph Clee Hanes.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 13, the time of services with the Rev. Jill Stewart-Moncilovich, PhD., officiating, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Burial in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, will be private and at the convenience of the family.
