Former driver for Zappi Oil Co.
William Edward Reedy Sr., 75, of Canonsburg, formerly of Hickory, died at 5:50 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2006, in Washington Hospital, following a five-year illness. He was born September 12, 1930, in Hickory, a son of Hiram Edward and Myrtle Marquis Reedy. Mr. Reedy was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. He had been a truck driver for Zappi Oil Co. and, prior to that, had driven for Koppers Co. for 25 years. Mr. Reedy was a graduate of Hickory High School and enjoyed his grandchildren. On September 29, 1950, he married Dolores Mae Kovatch, who died August 17, 1999. Surviving are a son, William E. Jr. and wife Beth Reedy of Canonsburg, with whom he resided; two daughters, Cindy Reedy of Washington and Pam and husband Ray Heron of Charlottesville, Va.; a sister, Elaine R. and husband Jack Caldwell of Hickory; seven grandchildren, Shawn, Eric and Patrick Heron, Chad Cuccaro, and Zachary, Blake and Jennifer Reedy; and a great-grandchild, Tyler Heron.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, in Immaculate Conception Church, West Chestnut Street, Washington, followed by interment in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.
