John Urbanik, 81, of Washington, died at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 5, 2006, in Washington County Health Center, Washington, following a lengthy illness. He was born June 25, 1924, in Washington, a son of Frank and Dzikowicz (Helen) Jackson Urbanik. Mr. Urbanik attended Trinity High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II who served from April 6, 1943 to February 4, 1946. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police. On November 12, 1948, he married Elizabeth Jane Tarr, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, John J. and William Urbanik, both of Washington; a daughter, Kathy Graff of Nashport, Ohio; a brother, Daniel Urbanik of Washington; three grandchildren, William and George Urbanik and Heather Graff; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Aidan Urbanik. Deceased are two brothers, Joseph and Emil Urbanik; and two sisters, Frances Sendro and Clara Katz. He leaves behind his special pet beagle, Daisy Mae.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Susan VandeKappelle officiating.
