Mary Yevins, 83, of Washington, formerly of New York, died at 8:35 a.m. Sunday, February 26, 2006, in Washington Hospital following a two-week illness.
She was born December 15, 1922, in Avella, a daughter of George and Mary Salesi Yevins.
She was Roman Catholic.
She was a graduate of Avella High School. Prior to her retirement, she had been a clerk typist employed by the federal government.
She enjoyed shopping and watching television.
In 1950, she was united in marriage with Vincent Russell, who died February 24, 2000.
Surviving are a brother, Stephen and wife Mary Jane Yevins of Washington; a niece, Stephanie Hughes and husband Kent of Alexandria, Va.; two nephews, James Yevins and wife Lee Ann of Houston and Vincent Yevins and wife Milissa of Washington; and the following great-nieces and great-nephews: Stephen Hughes, Meredith Hughes, Aleea Yevins, Jared Yevins, Brady Yevins, Matthew Yevins and Erin Yevins.
Friends will be received by the family from 7 to 9 Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 2, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington, followed by interment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
