John William Anthony, 88, of Washington, died at 11:25 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2006, in Donnell House, following a five-year illness.
He was born April 19, 1918, in Washington, a son of Simon and Helen Bedillion Anthony.
Mr. Anthony was a 1937 graduate of Washington High School and a veteran of World War II.
He was employed by Jessop Steel for 39 years, retiring as a night-time plant supervisor.
Mr. Anthony was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church and Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
On May 21, 1938, he married Clara Bainer, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, John William Anthony II (Gloria) of Washington; a daughter, Carolyn A. Kraushaar (John H.) of Washington; a brother, Roger Anthony of Washington; a granddaughter, Jennifer Bernett; and a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Elizabeth Bernett.
Deceased are three brothers, Walter M. Anthony, Bernard Anthony and Charles Anthony; and two sisters, Hazel Nichols and Marguerete Klinzing.
Friends will be received from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 24, with the Rev. Larry G. Wiltrout officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
