Betty Jane Murphy Betty Jane Murphy, 78, of Washington, died at 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2006, in the Donnell House after a one-year illness. She was born in Washington, PA, on August 9, 1927, a daughter of Dorsey Edison and Ethel Mae Jones Strosnider. Mrs. Murphy worked at a sales clerk and preparatory worker for Krencey's Bakery for 9 years. Previously, she had worked at Brockway Glass #7 as a packer for 9 years, and had played the organ at the church. Betty belonged to the Kingdom life Chapel. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Murphy had attended Washington High School. On August 15, 1975, she married Edward James Murphy, who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, John R. Benko of Austintown, Ohio and Mickey L. Benko of Livermore, CA; a daughter, Diana Brownlee of Amity, PA; 2 sisters, Mary Ann Yohe and Virginia Ruetschi, both of Washington, PA; 4 grandchildren, Victoria Fender, Sandy Narigon, Melana Bistarkey and Janice Lovat; and 6 great grandchildren. Deceased is a sister Doris Grusoffski. Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, PA 15301, where services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Thomas Boris officiating. Burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery.
