Dorothy Alley Hallam

Dorothy Alley Hallam, 84, of Washington, died Wednesday, June 7, 2006, in Washington Hospital. She had been in declining health for the past four years. She was born July 5, 1921, in Washington, a daughter of John Price and Edna Scott Alley. Mrs. Hallam graduated from Washington High School in 1939 and was a member of Laboratory Presbyterian Church. She was employed as a secretary to the superintendent of Trinity Area School District for 20 years, retiring in 1980. She also had been employed by Washington-Greene Addiction Prevention Services for 11 years. Mrs. Hallam enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed travel. In December 1968, she married Cleon S. Hallam, who died April 17, 1981. Surviving are two sons, John W. Christman and Ronald F. Christman, both of Washington; four grandchildren, Mary A. (Mary Ann) Christman, Amy R. (John) Lesh, Melissa A. (Andy) Clutter and Tracy L. (Jason) Krenzelak; six great-grandchildren, Michael and Katy Christman, John Lesh, Brent and Alyssa Clutter and Zackary Krenzelak. Deceased are four brothers, John, William, Frank and Thomas Alley; a sister, Virginia Elliott; and a great-grandchild, Thomas Lesh, twin of John. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 10 until 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, June 10, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, with the Rev. David A. Stammerjohn officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Laboratory Presbyterian Church, 33 Manse Street, Washington, PA 15301.
