Virginia Pavkovich Sonson of Washington, died Sunday, January 17, 2010, in the Washington County Health Center. She was born in Pitcarin, West Virginia, a daughter of Frank and Mary Rowe Collis.
Mrs. Sonson was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. She was retired, having worked as a secretary for Trinity Area School District for twenty seven years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and prior to her health declining, was an avid walker.
On June 9, 1943, she married Joseph Pavkovich, who died on January 15, 1978. On June 18, 1982, she married Francis “ Len “ Sonson, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Joyce L. ( Billy ) Hannen of Washington and Joni K. ( Thomas ) Ingram of Avella; step-sons, Thomas ( Janice ) and Leonard ( Deanna ) Sonson, both of Washington; step-daughters, Eileen Minella of Washington and Janice Schroeder of Canonsburg; a sister, Rose Salada of Washington; grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Gorby, Gary Gwynn, Anthony and Robert Schroeder, Anita McAdams, Jason, Brian, Any, Nicole, and Christian Sonson; as well as five great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are, a son Bobby Joe Pavkovich who died in infancy; brothers, Sam, John, and Joe Collis; sisters, Frances Colosi and Daisy Betonte.
Friends of Virginia Pavkovich Sonson of Washington, died Sunday, January 17, 2010, will be received on Monday from 7 to 9 PM and Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at 10:00 AM, in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray. The family is requesting memorial donations be made to one of the following: American Heart Association, Alzheimer's Association, American Diabetes Association, or Albert Gallatin Hospice.
