Betty Ruth Ayre

Member of First Baptist Church, Washington Betty Ruth Ayre, 74, of Washington, died at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2006, in the Washington Hospital emergency room. She had been in declining health. She was born April 19, 1931, in Glen Easton, W.Va., a daughter of Dale and Georgia Shuman Crouser. Mrs. Ayre was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Washington and Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 Auxiliary. On August 12, 1950, she married James Nelson Dicks, who died April 12, 1992. On January 26, 1979, she married Francis Neil "Pork" Ayre, who died July 21, 1993. Surviving are a son, Randy A. Dicks of West Homestead; a brother, William A. Colvin of Washington; and four grandchildren, Ashley J. Dicks, Ryan A. Dicks, James Benjamin Dicks and Emalee Nicole Dicks. Deceased are a son, Edward Dale Dicks, and a sister, Thelma Louise Leonard. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 16, with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
