Harold "Sam" Wayne Johnson, Jr.

Ciba-Geigy worker served in Army. Harold Wayne (Sam) Johnson Jr., 75, of Washington, died at 10:40 am. Sunday, January 1, 2006, in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness. He was born August 21, 1930, in Washington, a son of Harold W. Sr. and Lena Margaret Wurtzer Johnson. Mr. Johnson worked at Ciba-Geigy for 35 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Washington and enjoyed antique cars and camping. Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 in Panama. He was a Trinity High School graduate. On September 12, 1959, he married Barbara Talbott, who survives with three sons, Harold Wayne Johnson III and wife Betty of Houston, Texas, and Daniel Andrew Johnson and wife Julie and Gregory Scott Johnson, both of Washington; a daughter, Linda Bergman of Washington; a brother, Clyde R. Johnson and wife Marlyn of Claysville; two sisters, Hazel Crawford and Shirley Taylor and husband Jack, both of Washington; and four grandchildren, A.J. Bergman and wife Kristina, Casey Bergman, Morgan Johnson and Serena Hunsberger. Deceased is a sister, Margaret Ptaszek. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, with the Rev. Steve Dunlap officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
