48-year International Paper employee served in WWII.
Norman "Bud" Shanor, 78, of Washington, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, January 1, 2006, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington, following a four-year illness. He was born April 2, 1927, in Beaver Falls, a son of Wilbur and Estella Gray Shanor. Mr. Shanor worked at International Paper, Union Camp/River Raisin for 48 years. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces in the Philippines. He was married to Evelyn Ringer, who survives. Also surviving are a son by a previous marriage, Dr. N. Wayne Shanor and wife Kathryn of Washington; a brother, Wilbur Shanor of Cincinnati, Ohio; a stepbrother, Raymond Shanor of Tungsten, Ariz.; a sister, Roberta Reda of Beaver Falls; three grandchildren, Tanya Shanor, Eric W. Shanor and Carrie Edmondson; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother, Harold Shanor; and a stepbrother, Walter Shanor.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, with the Rev. Ronald Ringer officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
