Myrtle Sophia Stenger

25-year hairdresser. Myrtle Sophia Stenger, 90, of Evans, Ga., died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2005, in Westwood Nursing Home, Evans, Ga. She had been in failing health for six months. She was born August 25, 1915, in Lowber, a daughter of the late William A. and Mary A. Ballew Couchenour. She had been a hairdresser for 25 years at Myrtle's Beauty Salon on Castle Shannon Boulevard, Mt. Lebanon. She later worked for several years in the comptroller's office for Allegheny County, who at the time was Bob Friend. She attended Monongahela Church of the Nazarene for several years and was a member of Washington First Church of the Nazarene. On August 1, 1960, she married Edward A. Stenger, who died May 14, 1995. Surviving are three daughters, Nancy Snyder and Arlene Sprowls, both of Evans, and Sally Mutdosch of Augusta, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Ralph, William and Tammy Snyder, Linda Boeltz, Jim Cipollone, Michelle Alva and Donna Shelton; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.Deceased are six brothers and a sister. Her pallbearers were Jim Cipollone, WIlliam Snyder, Eric Snyder, Joshua Alva, Steven Siemon, Michael Siemon, Cody Aaron Shelton, Ralph Snyder, Tommy Snyder and Jeremy Alva. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, with the Rev. Robert England officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery, Pleasant Hills. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Monongahela Church of the Nazarene, Chess Street, Monongahela; or First Church of the Nazarene, North Main Street, Washington.
