Mary M. Slavikosky, 83, of Gainesville, Fla., died Friday afternoon September 23, 2005, in Hospice of North Central Florida, Gainesville, following a brief illness.
She was born May 20, 1922, in Washington, a daughter of Andrew and Lucy Malik Keron.
Mrs. Slavikosky was a homemaker and previously worked at Hazel-Atlas Plant 2.
She lived in Washington until 1991 when she moved to Gainesville to be near her daughter and son-in-law.
Prior to moving to Gainesville, Mrs. Slavikosky was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Washington and was a member of First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.
She enjoyed writing cards and letters to family and friends and enjoyed buying gifts for everyone.
In 1954, she married Carl J. Slavikosky, who died February 13, 1981.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara (Bill) Dolamore of Gainesville; a brother, Rudy Keron of Washington; a sister, Josephine (Helen) Roupe of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are brothers Andy, Joe, John "Shoes," Steve "Hambone" and Robert "Rowboat" Keron; and sisters Anna Keron, Mildred Strnisha and Margaret Williams.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 29, in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Washington, with the Rev. Nicholas Spirko as celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
