Doris Evelyn Wilkes, 73, of Washington, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, in Washington Hospital, from complications of liver disease.
She was born January 14, 1933, in Eighty Four, a daughter of William H. and Iva Mae Porter Lane.
Mrs. Wilkes graduated from East Washington High School in 1951 and worked as a clerk in various area grocery stores and at Washington City Mission.
She was a member of Emmanuel United Presbyterian Church, where she was a former deacon, elder and member of the Missionary Society and church choir. She enjoyed the choir and loved crossword puzzles.
Surviving are a brother, Robert Lane of Washington; two sisters, Helen Bush of Humbert Lane Health Care in Washington and Virginia (Bill) Logan of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Harold and Carl Lane; and two sisters, Grace Holmes and Eleanore Jane Reese.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 19, with the Rev. Rob Shoup officiating. Burial will follow in Emmanuel Church Cemetery.
