Harold Kenneth Herron, 90, of Washington, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, in his home. He was born November 7, 1914, in Washington, a son of John B. and Annie D. Herron Polen. Mr. Herron was employed at Precision Industries for over twenty years, and as a street car conductor in Washington for thirteen years. Mr. Herron helped and enjoyed working at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, where he was a member. He also enjoyed carpentry/remodeling for his family. On February 3, 1934, he married Elizabeth Swartzfeger, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Samuel R. (Carol) Herron, of Ocean Isle, North Carolina; two daughters, Marilyn H. (Burson) Plants, of Claysville, and Susan J. (Richard) Gifford, of Lynchburg, Virginia; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, and Timothy Herron, Mark, Carilee, and Doran Plants, Lorilee Lemley, Brian Plants, Troy Gifford, Lynnea Tate; and fourteen great grandchildren. Deceased are a daughter, Carolyn N. Herron, a brother, Clyde Raymond Polen, and a sister, Helen Polen Russell.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.,m., Friday, and 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., the hour of service, Saturday, July 29, 2006, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, with the Rev. Richard Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
