Joan Dorothy Mason, 82, of Washington, died at 7:25 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2006, in Donnell House, Washington, following a four-year illness.
She was born February 16, 1924, in Norwich, England, a daughter of George and Beatrice Redgrave Littleboy.
She was an English War Bride who married her first husband, Walter M. Polasky, now deceased, on December 23, 1943, and came to the United States in February 1945. She married her second husband, Albert K. Mason, also now deceased, on November 18, 1961.
Mrs. Mason worked for a brief time at the RCA plant in Canonsburg and Slenderella Salon in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. In her later years she was a homemaker who enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved to watch her great-grandchildren play baseball and softball. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing cards.
Mrs. Mason was the mother of three children, Sandra Mize and spouse, Clyde Mize, of Washington, Linda Lingrey and spouse David Lingrey, of O’Fallon, Missouri, and John M. Polasky, now deceased, and spouse Bernice Polasky of Canonsburg. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Tony Dellorso, Kelley Allen, Christopher Nagel, Ryan Trimm and Megan Luke; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Smith of Crowthorne, Berks, England; and several nieces and nephews in the United States and England.
Deceased are a sister, Beatrice, and a brother, George Littleboy, who was killed in World War II.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2006, with Rev. Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
