Catherine Laird, 90, of Washington, died Sunday, June 18, 2006, in Washington County Health Center, following a brief illness.
She was born July 4, 1915, in Carother's Station, Washington County, a daughter of James and Ella White Salinger.
A homemaker, Mrs. Laird loved playing bingo.
She was a ladies auxiliary member of Core-Houston American Legion 907, Taylorstown and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 927, Washington, where she served as treasurer for 36 years. On January 9, 1931, she married John W. Laird, who died in 1958. Surviving are a son, James Laird; a daughter, Gladys (David) Engle, both of Washington; three grandchildren, Dana (Tom) Miller, Paula (Clyde) Hartzog and David (Kerry) Engle; six great-grandchildren, T.J. Miller, Eric, Trevor and Travis Hartzog and Zach and Karly Engle; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Laird; a great-grandchild, Drew Miller; two brothers, Frank and Robert Salinger; and five sisters, Mary Stoner, Minnie Miklic, Louella Ashmore, Margaret Larson and Helen Easterbrook.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or services. Arrangements are being handled by William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., Washington.
