Howard E. "Howdy" Naser Sr., 73, of Canonsburg, formerly of Washington, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006, in Manor Care, McMurray, following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 4, 1932, in Washington, a son of John Edward and Ruth Alice White Naser.
Mr. Naser attended Washington High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, earning the rank of gunner's mate, third class. Mr. Naser's medals include National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
He participated in Golden Glove boxing and also enjoyed playing adult softball.
Mr. Naser was a steelworker at Precision-Marshall Steel for 23 years and also had worked at Jessop Steel.
Mr. Naser was a member of First Christian Church, Washington.
He coached Washington Youth Baseball and Brownson House football. Mr. Naser followed Washington High School football and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
His wife, Margaret (Peg) Naser, whom he married August 13, 1955, survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ed (Cindy) Naser of Canonsburg and Howard "Howdy" Naser Jr. of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Debbie (Stush) Carrozza of Bethel Park and Cindy (Jerry) Interval of Washington; a sister, Barbara "Sis" Sacco of Washington; six grandchildren, Jarrod, Samuel and Jackson Interval, Austin and Brennan Carrozza and Amanda Naser; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, Jack Naser.
Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 11, with the Rev. Paul Leone officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175. Memorial contributions may be made to Washington High School Pigskin Club, 201 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA 15301; Brownson House, 1415 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301; or First Christian Church, 615 East Beau Street, Washington, PA 15301.
