Matilda Dorisio, 93, formerly of Washington, died at 8:25 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2006, in Flo's Personal Care Home, Elco, following a lingering illness. She was born June 13, 1913, in Sharpsburg, a daughter of Fortunato (Frank) and Clara Paletta Rotundo. Mrs. Dorisio attended Turney School in Jefferson Township near Avella and lived in Penowa until 1942. On January 1, 1933, in Immaculate Conception Church, Pittsburgh, she married Alphonse Dorisio, a son of Felix and Mary DeAngelis, who died May 5, 1988. For almost 50 years, Mrs. Dorisio was owner/operator of Dorisio's WGA Market on LeMoyne Avenue, Washington. She was a member of Washington Grocers Association and Pennsylvania Grocers Association. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Washington. She enjoyed music, ocean cruises, playing cards and board games, and cooking, especially for her family. People say her smile and laughter lit up the room. Mrs. Dorisio was the beloved mother of Robert R. (Jane) Dorisio of Wheeling, W.Va., Mary Ellen (Joseph) Marchione of Allison Park and Clara Jean Dorisio of Washington. Also surviving are two brothers, Robert (Elda) Rotundo of Delmar, N.Y., and Frank Rotunda of Washington; a sister, Jenina Schott of Kutztown; five grandchildren, Joseph (Kathy) Marchione, Mary Cay (Enio) Ricci, Carol (Scott) Wolfhope, Andrew (Emily) Dorisio and Michael Dorisio; five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Patrick and Isabella Ricci and Sophia and Emma Dorisio; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are three brothers, Joseph Rotunda, Peter Rotunda and Frank Rotundo, who died as a child; a sister, Adeline Muzopappa; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 24, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington, with the Rev. Ed Czemerda as celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. James Mausoleum, Immaculate Conception Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allegheny Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2040 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
