Patsy Arena

Patsy Arena, 93, of Washington, died at 11:58 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006, in his residence, following a two-year illness. He was born April 27, 1913, in Pittsburgh, a son of Thomas and Rose M. Andreola Arena. Mr. Arena worked at Hazel Atlas Glass 1 for 46 years, and as a Washington County parole officer for five years. After retiring from the glass factory, he worked as a bookbinder for 15 years at Washington & Jefferson College's U. Grant Miller Library. Mr. Arena was a collector of Hazel Atlas glass and Duncan Miller glass. He was considered, by some collectors, to be an expert in these types of glassware. He was an original member of Independent Club and was a member of Sons of Italy. On February 27, 1931, he married Grace Lorraine Murphy, who died February 9, 1982. They had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before her death. Surviving are three sons, Thomas P. Arena, Joseph M. Arena and Patrick A. Arena, all of Washington; a daughter, Nancy A. Razvoza of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a sister, Theresa Julian of Taylorstown; eight grandchildren, Pam Soward of Titusville, Fla., Leslie Pryor of Washington, Jody Kelley of Highland Village, Texas, Cathy Hoy of Norfolk, Va., Michael Arena of Charlotte, N.C., Amy Ross of Chesapeake, Va., Patrick Razvoza of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Karen Franks of Washington; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Deceased are a grandson, Thomas Arena; and two sisters, Louise Boni and Mildred Montecalvo. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 31, with Pastor Ed Charlton officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
