Nurse's aide at Candle Light Assisted Living
Elsie M. Garber, 60, of Greensboro, died Wednesday, August 23, 2006, in her home, following a four-month illness.
She was born October 16, 1945, in Washington, a daughter of Raymond Thorton and Ida Eva Schrader Garber.
In her early years, Mrs. Garber worked for a family in McDonald and was a housekeeper for various families.
She attended nurse's aide training in 1995 and was a nurse's aide at Candle Light Assisted Living.
Mrs. Garber was Presbyterian.
She enjoyed karaoke and gardening.
Surviving are Gene Vrabel of Waynesburg, with whom she made her home; four sons, Lonnie Jenkins (Robin Lantz), Louis A. Jenkins (Sharon Decker), Randy Jenkins (Amie Baysinger), all of Waynesburg, and Steven Jenkins (Kelley Andrews) of Fredericktown; a daughter, Debbie Jenkins (Gary Smith) of Marietta, Ohio; two brothers, Glenn Leroy Garber and James Albert Garber, both of Washington; two sisters, Laura Ann Wilhoft of Waynesburg and Thelma Jenkins of Marianna; and a grandson, Brian Lee Jenkins, whom she raised.
Deceased are two brothers, Raymond Garber and William Robert Garber; a sister, Mary Lou Spease; two sons, Larry Jenkins and Brian Lee Jenkins; and a grandson, Kyle Jenkins.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., the hour of service, Monday, August 28, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Larry Douglas officiating. Burial will be in Horn Cemetery, Marianna.
