William Adrian (Bill) McCool, 91, of Strabane Woods, formerly of Murdock Street, Washington, died at 9:55 a.m. Sunday, October 1, 2006, in his home, following a two and one-half year illness.
He was born June 11, 1915, in Washington, a son of William John and Ada R. Curran McCool.
He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Mr. McCool had been employed in sales in the home furnishing department of Ross Independent Oil, later Coen Oil, for 20 years. He was a former employee of Blue Ridge Bus Lines.
He collected miniature cars and trucks. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 776 of Washington, Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion and Sons of the American Revolution.
He attended three years at Immaculate Conception High School and graduated from Trinity High School in 1932, where he was president of his class.
During World War II, he served in the Army Air Force as a corporal in the South Pacific with the 42nd Bomb Group, 13th Army Air Force in the Solomon Islands.
On September 25, 1941, he married Bette Jane Brown, who died January 28, 2003.
Surviving are several cousins, nieces and nephews.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, in Immaculate Conception Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington, with Fr. William Feeney as celebrant. Those attending are asked to meet at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Albert Gallatin Hospice, 20 Highland Park Drive, Uniontown, PA 15401. Arrangements by William G.
