Marion Legler

Marion Legler, 90, of Monongahela, formerly of Florida, where she resided for more than 23 years, died Sunday, October 17, 2010, in Humbert Lane Health Care Centre. She was born May 17, 1920, in Monongahela, a daughter of Harry John and Ida Frances Hagerty Ashcraft. She graduated from Monongahela High School in 1939. Mrs. Legler worked at the Pentagon, with the Army Air Corps, during World War II, and had also worked for Ashcraft Construction in Monongahela. She formerly attended Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church in Washington, and First Methodist Church of Apopka, Florida. Mrs. Legler was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, National Pike Chapter, Monongahela Historical Society, and Monongahela-New Eagle Senior Social Clubs. On October 4, 1940, she married John L. Legler, who died May 29, 1981, and on June 18, 1986, she married Samuel J. Davies, who died July 8, 1992. Surviving are three sons, John L. (Karen) Legler, of Washington, William (Virginia) Legler, of Houston, and Robert Legler, of Washington; two daughters, Patricia A. (Robert) Hainsworth, of Newark, Delaware, and Gail (Raymond) Meloy, of Follansbee, WV; a brother, George Ashcraft, of New Eagle; two sisters, Martha A. (William G.) Neal, of Washington, and Jane Necciai, of Monongahela; 8 grandchildren, Tris (Mark) Finsley, Heidi (Jeff) Kording, Kimberly (Robert) Lerman, Jeffrey (Marcie) Legler, Jennifer (Jimmie) DiGiacinto, Dena (Richard) Duncan, Jillian Legler, and Zachary Legler; 12 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Deceased in addition to her husbands, is a sister, Harriett Pippert. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, and 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, Thursday, October 20, 2010, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Schott officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery, McMurray. The family suggests memorial contributions to Citizens Library, 55 S. College Street, Washington, PA 15301, or Monongahela Historical Society, P.O. Box 152, Monongahela, PA 15063.
