Isabel Martin “Ike” Reeves, 91, of Washington, died Monday, October 30, 2006, in Presbyterian Senior Care. She had been in declining health.
She was born October 8, 1915, in Rea, a daughter of J. Wylie Martin and Bertha Wilson Stewart Martin.
Mrs. Reeves graduated from Washington High School in 1934 and had worked at Washington Meat Market on Main Street, Central Drug and Rungo’s Market.
She lived in Trenton, New Jersey for several years, returning to Washington in 1978.
Mrs. Reeves was a member of Laboratory Presbyterian Church and its Women’s Association.
She enjoyed sewing with the women’s group at church and dearly loved quilting.
On August 26, 1954, she married Lawrence Bigler Reeves, who died December 14, 1998.
Surviving are two step-grandchildren, Larry Booze and Darla Mylan, both of Fredericktown; and several nieces and nephews, including Sheila Shary of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and Janis Martin Armstrong of Washington, who was also her caregiver.
Deceased are her first husband, Bud Standiford; four brothers, W. Kenneth Martin, Edwin L. “Whitey” Martin, Charles A. “Cap” Martin, and Joseph Martin, who died in infancy; and two sisters, Mary A. Navoy and Shirley A “Dutch” Martin.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., the hour of service, Thursday, November 2, 2006, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Rev. David A. Stammerjohn officiating. Burial in Forest Lawn Gardens will be private and at the convenience of the family.
