Harry B. Anderson

Harry B. Anderson, 73, of Washington, died Thursday, November 9, 2006, in Donnell House, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Washington, a son of Charles E. Anderson and Elisabeth A. Reedy-Anderson Ross. Mr. Anderson was an infantry reconnaissance scout for the Pennsylvania National Guard Infantry during the Korean War, serving active duty in Germany from 1950 to 1953. He was a preparation line operator at Washington Steel, Washington Plant, for 37 years. Mr. Anderson was a member of Carpenters Home Church, South Strabane Township. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, attending ham and turkey shoots and all sports. On May 25, 1953, he married Joanne Idella Lytton, who died June 30, 2004. Surviving are a son, Harry B. Anderson Jr., of Amity; three daughters, Susan J. McLaughlin, Barbara Jean Fischer and Joyce Ann Cochran, all of Washington; two brothers, William J. Anderson and Charles Homer Anderson, both of Washington; 12 grandchildren, Stephanie Butera, Melissa Gordon, Valerie Willis, Thomas Cochran, Ciara Anderson, Christopher Phillips, Melissa and Jessica McLaughlin and Earnest, Cooper, Hayden and Olivia Fischer; and six great- grandchildren. Deceased is a brother, Roy H. Anderson. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 13, with Bobby Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175. The family suggests memorial contributions to Donnell House, c/o Hospice Care of Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
